How it all Began

I went to meet a friend for coffee.  She had another friend with her and after introductions I asked, “So what do you do?”

At the time, I had an office job writing construction specifications for Callison Architects so when she answered, “I am a stone sculptor,” I was immediately envious.  When she continued, “We have an organization here (Northwest Stone Sculptors Association) that puts on symposia every now and then and we have a three-day, hand tools only, retreat scheduled next month on Whidbey Island, . . .”  I said, “Sign me up.”

And I fell in love with stone.  It’s harder than I am; doesn’t give way easily; forces me to slow down and pay attention to what I’m doing.  Plus it’s dirty and noisy; I get to play with power tools and dress up in sexy outfits:

What’s not to love?

Check it out.
